JAMMU: Former Deputy Mayor Jammu and senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria held a meeting to discuss the 'One Nation, One Election' initiative at BJP party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. BJP State Minority Morcha President Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, former Chairman Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Yashpal Sharma (Mantu) along with senior party leaders Pardyuman Singh, Jaideep Sambyal, Gurdeep Singh, Kamalpreet Singh were also present in the meeting.
Former Deputy Mayor Jammu and senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria gave a detailed presentation outlining the strategies to create awareness among the public about this initiative. Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Mayor Jammu and senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria said that 'One Nation, One Election' has been given the green signal by the NDA government but the Modi government believes that by running this campaign in public relations in every area, different sections of the society should be made aware of the benefits of 'One Nation One Election'. Highlighting the benefits of ‘One Nation, One Election’, Billawaria said that frequent elections are the biggest hurdle for the education sector.
He argued that frequent elections are the biggest hurdle to education and governance. He said that elections are declared throughout the year in India and the education sector suffers the most. He said that officials of government departments, especially government schools teachers are called for election duty which affects the overall learning outcomes. He said that holding all elections simultaneously will reduce the pressure on voters and increase participation by making the voting process more simple and predictable. Billawaria said that ‘One Nation-One Election’ will not only save time and money, but the development of the country and the general public will also not be affected by frequent elections.
He said that holding simultaneous elections is not a new thing. In independent India, from 1951 to 1967, general elections of all state assemblies and Lok Sabha were held simultaneously, he added. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had pledged to hold one nation-one election in its manifesto in the 1984 general elections and is committed to make this pledge a reality. In his address, BJP State Minority Morcha President Ranjodh Singh Nalwa said that the Minority Morcha will run a public awareness campaign for 'One nation One election' on a war footing. Nalwa said that 'One Nation One Election' is a good initiative of the Modi government, when assembly and Lok Sabha elections are declared simultaneously in the country, it will help the Prime Minister Narendra Modi dream of a developed India in 2047. He said that the Minority Morcha will run public relations campaigns in every area and make different sections of the society.
