SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party during patrolling from Bemina Chowk to Boatman Colony intercepted a vehicle coming from Bemina Chowk to Boatman colony was noticed driving suspiciously and recklessly, who tried to flee however the vehicle was tactfully stopped. Upon stopping, the driver immediately jumped out and fled from the spot. While the other co-passenger remained inside and was apprehended on the spot who disclosed his name as Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Woyan Pampore.
During questioning the arrested accused disclosed the name of the driver/the person whom the vehicle belongs as Mudasir Ahmad Pir son of Shareef-U-Din Pir resident of Firdous Colony Bemina. During search, substantial quantity of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from the Dash board of vehicle. Moreover, one weighing machine and a mobile phone was also seized on spot. Besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 18/2025 under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Bemina. Search for other accused person who fled from the spot is underway. Citizens are encouraged to support police efforts in rooting out the drug menace from society. We assure the public that the police will take strict action against offenders in accordance with the law.
