- Warns against attempts to hurt Hindu sentiments
JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Executive Member Raman Suri has commended the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their swift action against Bollywood influencer Orhan Awatramani (Orry) and seven others for consuming liquor at a hotel in Katra, the base town of the holy Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
The police registered an FIR after receiving a complaint on March 15, stating that the accused were consuming alcohol at a hotel despite being explicitly informed that liquor and non-vegetarian food were prohibited in the vicinity of the revered pilgrimage site. The crackdown was carried out under the supervision of SP Katra, DySP Katra, and SHO Katra.
Suri strongly condemned the actions of the accused, calling them a blatant disregard for the religious sentiments of Hindus. “Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, and any act that undermines its sanctity will not be tolerated. Such irresponsible behavior hurts the faith of millions of devotees who visit the shrine seeking spiritual solace,” he asserted.
Raman Suri further warned against any attempts to play with Hindu sentiments, emphasizing that Katra is not a place for such activities. “Those who try to disrupt the religious sanctity of our holy sites must face legal consequences. No one, regardless of their celebrity status, is above the law,” Suri added.
The BJP leader urged authorities to remain vigilant and ensure that strict action is taken against anyone attempting to disturb the spiritual atmosphere of pilgrimage sites. He also called upon visitors to respect the traditions and religious significance of such places.
“The government and law enforcement agencies must remain proactive in safeguarding the sanctity of our temples and pilgrimage centers. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is a symbol of devotion and faith, and any attempts to defile its sanctity will be met with strong resistance,” he concluded.
