SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing Ashra-e-Maghfirat of the holy month of Ramadan, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq delivered a sermon at Masjid Rehmat, Lal Bazar, focusing on the concept of Nafs (the self) and its purification in light of Islamic teachings.Addressing the gathering, Mirwaiz emphasized that Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and seeking Allahâs mercy.
He explained the different states of NafsâNafs-e-Ammarah (the commanding self), Nafs-e-Lawwama (the self-reproaching self), and Nafs-e-Mutmainnah (the contented self)âurging people to strive for self-purification through taqwa (God-consciousness), prayer, and repentance.Mirwaiz said that controlling oneâs desires and ego in the light of the Quran and Sunnah leads to inner peace and closeness to the Almighty.
