UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai on Wednesday presided over the weekly Block Diwas program at Government Higher Secondary School MartaawQ, a remote Panchayat in Block Ramnagar.
DDC member Mool Raj, Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ramnagar along with district and sectoral officers, former PRI members and residents from neighboring Panchayats of the block.
A wide range of issues and demands were raised by the DDC member, former PRI members and local residents seeking augmentation of drinking water supply in the region, Repair and maintenance of link roads in the area, Repair and installation of new handpumps in other locations, speedy completion of Jal Jeevan Mission works, supply of bamboo for boosting bamboo craft, which is a local livelihood source, Development work allocation to local contractors, establishment of a veterinary dispensary in Panchayat Marta and Bassi, meeting shortage of staff in PHE and other sectors, measures to tackle monkey and stray dogs menace, Organizing awareness camps by the Agriculture and allied departments etc.
Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner issued immediate instructions to the concerned officers to prioritize and resolve these issues. Several grievances were addressed on the spot following her directives. She assured the public that all genuine demands would be thoroughly examined and resolved promptly.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Post Entry Quarantine Centre at the Government Food Plant Nursery Marta. This facility, established under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme , aims to screen and multiply imported clonal rootstock apple plants, with five lakh plants currently under development.
