- Files nomination papers as independent candidate for Sonawari
- Promises to focus on key issues such as the creation of a separate district, job creation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, tourism enhancement, and the upliftment of tribal and fisher communities
SRINAGAR: In a significant political move, Saheer Rather, a renowned social activist, filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate for the Sonawari Constituency at the Returning Officer's (RO) office in Sumbal today. A large gathering of supporters and workers accompanied him, showcasing their unwavering belief in his vision for the region.
With a strong track record of advocating for peace, development, and the welfare of the marginalized, Saheer Rather's candidacy represents a beacon of hope for the people of Sonawari. His campaign is built on the pillars of sustainable development, dignity, and prosperity, as outlined in his comprehensive manifesto, which calls for educational reforms, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development.
Saheer Rather has also promised key initiatives aimed at transforming the region. His manifesto includes demands for National Highway status, a railway link with stations, and stone quarry permissions for SK Bala. He envisions Sonawari becoming a Smart City, advocating for the creation of a separate district and promoting tourism by developing it as a hub for hotels and related industries. For the agricultural sector, Rather plans to introduce crop insurance for farmers and establish cold storage facilities to boost horticulture. He also promises to uplift tribal communities and improve the lives of fishermen.
Additionally, his vision includes developing sports stadiums and playfields to engage the youth, creating job opportunities through private sector initiatives, and building a strong foundation for Sonawariâs future through sustainable infrastructure.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Rather made a heartfelt appeal to the youth of the region, urging them to support and vote for him. "The youth are the backbone of Sonawariâs future, and I am here to empower you. Together, we can break the cycle of neglect and stagnation. I urge you to vote for me, so I can serve the people of Sonawari and bring about the change we desperately need," he said.
Rather strongly criticized the previous governments and MLAs for their neglect of the Sonawari Constituency. "For years, our constituency has been ignored by those in power. Development has stalled, and the needs of our people have been overlooked. This has prompted my people to insist that I file my nomination, to be their voice and to fight for the justice and progress Sonawari deserves," he declared passionately.
