SRINAGAR: To curb the menace of illegal mining and to foil the degradation of the river Veshaw and other Nallahs of the district, Police in Kulgam along with officers of geology and mining department, arrested 7 persons and seized 7 vehicles including (02 JCBs & 05 Tractors) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Vishaw river at Chahlan and other areas.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated. Police warns stringent action against those people whosoever found guilty in the said crime. Community members are requested to inform nearby police unit or Dial 112 regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighbourhood so that timely action against the culprits will be taken.
