JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu under the Department of Public Enterprises,commenced a three-day Management Development Program (MDP) on “Generative AI (GenAI) Fundamentals for Leaders” on September 16, 2026. The programme, being conducted from September 16–18, 2026, is designed to provide leaders and professionals with a foundational understanding of Generative AI and its potential applications in contemporary organisational settings.
The inaugural ceremony was held at Classroom Nyay, Vedanta MDP Block, IIM Jammu. The programme brings together 28 participants from diverse professional backgrounds. Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy presided over the inaugural ceremony in presence of programme directors, Dr. Eshika Aggarwal and Dr. Sakthi Nagaraj T.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the inaugural lamp, followed by the welcome address by Dr. Eshika Aggarwal, Program Director. In her address, she provided an overview of the three-day programme and highlighted the growing relevance of Generative AI in shaping how organisations innovate and operate. She emphasised the importance of building a strong foundation in Generative AI and creating an environment where participants can understand and explore its practical applications in organizational contexts.
The participants also introduced themselves and shared their expectations and aspirations from the programme, reflecting the diverse professional experience and perspectives represented in the cohort.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu, provided an overview of IIM Jammu and its Executive Education and Consultancy initiatives. He highlighted the Institute’s journey, its growing academic and professional community, and its engagement with organizations and stakeholders across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He noted that IIM Jammu is an Institute of National Importance and spoke about the diverse organisations represented by the participants, emphasising the opportunity for mutual learning and exchange of perspectives. He also highlighted IIM Jammu’s international accreditation journey and its aspiration to progress towards the Triple Crown accreditation. He further spoke about the Institute’s faculty research, student community and the range of executive education, training and consultancy programmes undertaken by the Institute.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sakthi Nagaraj T, Program Director, IIM Jammu, followed by the National Song and National Anthem. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a group photograph and high tea.
The three-day programme will provide participants with an opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of Generative AI, explore its evolving applications, and examine how emerging AI capabilities can contribute to organisational innovation, decision-making and contemporary ways of working.
