The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. JAMMU: In a heartwarming celebration of the spirit of Diwali, Noble Laureate School, Dhamore Jakh, organised a special festive programme at Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu, spreading the message of love, compassion, togetherness and respect for the elderly.

A group of enthusiastic students visited the Ashram, accompanied by School Principal Dr. Arti Mohan, Coordinator Ms. Nisha Rani and staff members Mr. Manish, Mr. Mohd. Rafi, Ms. Ritu and Ms. Vishali. The visit was graced by Dr. Preeti Sharma, JKAS, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) as Chief Guest, whose presence added significance to the occasion.

The celebrations commenced with a vibrant array of cultural performances by the students, beautifully compered by Ms. Nisha Rani. School Head Ms. Riti delivered a heartfelt speech in Hindi, conveying gratitude and affection towards the elderly residents. The cultural presentations included Punjabi group dances by Aghanya Jamwal, Bharti and Aradhiya; a Dogri speech by Khushi; an energetic Punjabi dance performance by Vimla, Aradhiya and Aaghanya; and graceful classical dance performances by Deepakshi and Pranvi.

Several residents actively participated in the celebrations through dance and singing, including Smt. Shakuntla, Pushpa, Champa, Manju and Chanchla, along with Shri Kulbhushan Sharda, Romesh Kumar, Nand Lal, Ashok Gupta and Rajinder Singh Rajput. Their enthusiastic participation added a special charm to the festivities and reflected the joy and spirit of togetherness that characterised the occasion.

The celebrations reached their high point when students, teachers and residents came together on the dance floor, sharing moments of joy, laughter and festive enthusiasm. The residents also interacted warmly with the students, sharing their invaluable life experiences, cherished memories and blessings, making the occasion a truly meaningful intergenerational exchange.

Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, Home for the Aged & Infirm, appreciated the thoughtful initiative of Noble Laureate School and observed that such interactions play a vital role in bridging the generation gap and inculcating values of compassion, empathy, kindness and respect for senior citizens among young students. The Managing Committee representatives also lauded the school management, teachers and students for their commendable efforts in bringing happiness and festive cheer to the residents.

The celebration beautifully reinforced the message that festivals are not merely occasions for rituals and festivities, but opportunities to share happiness, extend affection and strengthen the bonds of humanity. The Managing Committee of the Ashram expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the Director, Principal, teachers, staff and students of Noble Laureate School for their thoughtful visit and for making Diwali a memorable occasion for the residents.
