SOPORE: In continuation of the ongoing mass anti-drug campaign under the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Sopore have further intensified the anti-drug enforcement drive in a case registered at Police Station Dangiwacha.

During naka checking at Behrampora, Rafiabad, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, contraband charas-like substance was recovered and seized as per due procedure. The accused has been identified as Nadeem Ahmad Chopan son of Habibullah Chopan resident of Bohripora, Ganaie Mohalla Sopore.

Accordingly, FIR No. 30/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Dangiwacha. During the further course of investigation, on the disclosure of the accused, a subsequent recovery of contraband substance was effected from his residential premises at Bohripora Sopore, indicating deeper linkages in the case.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider network involved. Police reiterated that alongside sustained awareness initiatives, strict enforcement under the anti-drug drive continues across the district to dismantle drug networks and protect society from the menace of drugs. Police reaffirmed their commitment under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
