BANDIPORA: HKM Govt Degree College Bandipora organized a series of awareness and extracurricular programmes under the ongoing Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) with the objective of promoting awareness against drug abuse and encouraging constructive youth engagement. As part of the campaign, the NCORD Cell of the college, in collaboration with the Department of Education, organized an awareness programme on drug abuse in the college campus.
The programme aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of building a drug-free society. The programme was personally viewed and appreciated by the Principal of the college, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, who encouraged the participants and highlighted the importance of sports and physical activities in building a healthy and drug-free society.
During the programme, Head of the Department of Education, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Parrey, delivered an insightful lecture on the growing menace of drugs among youth and highlighted its social, psychological and health-related consequences. He urged students to stay away from narcotics and contribute positively towards society. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who appreciated the initiative undertaken by the college under the banner of drug awareness.
Meanwhile, under the banner of NMBA, the College Sports Committee organized a Men’s Badminton Competition under the leadership of the Convener of the Sports Committee, Prof. Shahid Shafi. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and promoted the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline and healthy competition among the youth. The competition aimed to engage students in constructive extracurricular activities and reinforce the message of fitness, wellbeing and social responsibility.
In another programme, the NCORD Cell, in collaboration with the Department of Education, organized an Anti-Drug Pledge Ceremony in the college campus as part of the ongoing campaign against drug abuse. During the ceremony, students and faculty members collectively took a pledge to remain away from drugs and actively support the mission of creating a healthy and addiction-free environment.
Faculty members of the Department of Education emphasized the need for awareness, moral responsibility and community participation in eradicating drug addiction from society. The students participated enthusiastically and expressed their commitment towards the anti-drug campaign.
