DODA: The implementation and progress of Power Sector Projects in district Doda was reviewed today here at a meeting chaired by Managing Director Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) Gurpal Singh Arora and Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal held at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex.

At the outset, functionaries from the district gave a detailed presentation on the progress achieved under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), Smart Metering and Solar Penal Installations under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district.  The officers reviewed the Distribution Transformer meter installation updates with feeder-wise progress, installation status of smart meters and the status of existing tower infrastructure.

The implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Doda, Bhaderwah and Gandoh divisions was also comprehensively reviewed. Discussions were held regarding challenges faced during execution of works, public response, technical issues and measures required for ensuring timely completion of the projects. Special emphasis was laid on enhancing transparency, reducing transmission losses, strengthening power infrastructure and promoting renewable energy adoption among households.

The Managing Director JPDCL directed the JPDCL officers, executing agencies and vendors to achieve the targets within the stipulated time frame while maintaining quality standards in all ongoing works. He stressed the need for generating mass awareness regarding the benefits of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The concerned department was asked to organise awareness camps across the district to educate consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar installations and smart metering.

The MD also directed banks to expedite the disbursement of loan cases under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to enable the beneficiaries to avail timely financial assistance The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted several public issues related to RDSS initiatives, power supply and meter reading services. He urged the stakeholders of the Power Development Department to remain responsive towards public grievances and ensure prompt redressal of consumer issues.

The DC stressed upon close coordination among all stakeholder departments and executing agencies for effective implementation of the schemes in the larger public interest. Among others, the meeting was attended by Executive Engineer JPDCL along with field engineers; Zonal Head J&K Bank, representatives from contractor agencies and vendors associated with PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
