BANDIPORA: A meeting was convened by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal, Murtaza Ahmad Sheikh, with Imams and Khateebs of Sub Division Sumbal under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan to discuss measures for curbing the growing menace of drug abuse in society.

During the meeting, the SDM highlighted the alarming impact of drug addiction on youth and society at large and emphasized the need for collective and sustained efforts to eradicate the menace. Stressing the vital role of religious leaders, he stated that Molvis and Khateebs hold significant influence among the public and can play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and guiding youth towards a healthy and responsible path.

The religious leaders were urged to spread awareness regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse during religious gatherings, Friday sermons, and other public interactions and to encourage families and communities to remain vigilant against the menace.

The participants assured full cooperation in strengthening the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan and pledged to contribute actively towards building a drug-free and aware society in Sub Division Sumbal.
