BARAMULLA: Marking another day of sustained community outreach and public engagement, Police in Baramulla conducted 31 ‘Thana Diwas/PCPG Meetings’ across various parts of the district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, aimed at strengthening police-public relations and promoting collective efforts towards a drug-free society.
The outreach programmes were conducted at multiple locations including Khushalpora, Taripora Wasran, Gutiyar, Kalayban, Mohalla Jamia, Qalampora, Kaka Hamam, Saderbal, Poshwani, Om Burn, Yakhmanpora, Shah Mohalla, Kongamdara, Shurbugh, Gavegarn, Karewa, Bandi Payeen, Saterseran, Malpora, Hajibal, Badipora, Hardbani, Darein, Pandoori, Balkote, Trikanjan, Nambla, Prankutran, Kathil A, B, Uroosa and Chapper.
During these interactive sessions, police officers engaged directly with local residents and provided a platform for the public to raise their grievances and suggestions. Issues related to water supply, electricity, drainage, road connectivity, macadamization, tenant verification, cybercrime awareness and the growing menace of drug abuse were discussed in detail.
Special emphasis was laid on the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, with officers urging citizens, parents, teachers and youth to work collectively in identifying and preventing drug-related activities in their areas. Awareness was also imparted regarding cyber safety and public security measures. The public was assured that all genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt redressal.
The meetings witnessed active participation from citizens, who appreciated the proactive role of J&K Police in addressing public concerns and strengthening trust, coordination and police-public partnership at the grassroots level.
