GANDERBAL: An enlightening awareness camp focusing on women-centric provisions under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhinta was conducted today at Latigund Roshan Ganderbal. The event aimed to educate women and the broader community about legal rights and protections specifically designed for women within the Indian Criminal Justice System.
The camp was organised by Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal. The team emphasized the critical importance of legal awareness for women in ensuring their safety, dignity and justice, the pivotal role of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhinta in providing robust legal safeguards against crimes such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, and other forms of gender-based violence.
An overview of key provisions in the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhinta that offer protection and recourse to women, such as laws against domestic violence (Section 498A), sexual harassment (Section 354), and dowry-related offences were also deliberated upon.
