JAMMU: In a proud moment for the sporting community, Disha Pandith, a talented Kashmiri Pandit Sqay athlete, was honoured today with the prestigious Maa Sharika Sammaan Award 2026 by the Kashmiri Sevak Samaj for her outstanding achievements at the international level.

Disha Pandith has carved a distinct identity in the field of sports, particularly in Sqay—an ancient traditional martial art of Kashmir. Her consistent performances on the global stage have not only brought recognition to herself but have also highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir associated with this indigenous sport.

Beyond her personal achievements, Disha has been actively contributing to the development of young athletes from the Kashmiri Pandit community. Through regular coaching camps and awareness programmes, she has been working tirelessly to nurture emerging talent and promote participation in Sqay among the youth.

Adding another feather to her cap, Disha Pandith has been selected to represent India at the upcoming 6th Asian Sqay Championship, scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan. Both Team India and the Jammu and Kashmir Sqay Association have expressed high expectations from her, hoping she will once again bring laurels to the nation.
