SRINAGAR: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) is proud to announce the hosting of the prestigious All India Inter-University Winter Games 2024-25 in the picturesque Gulmarg. The event, scheduled to take place from January 30th to January 31st, 2025, will feature thrilling competitions in skiing and ice stock for both male and female athletes from universities across India.
Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, CUKashmir, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, flanked by Deans of Schools and other faculty members shared the details of the upcoming event. He emphasized that the primary objective of the Winter Games is to promote sportsmanship, encourage participation in winter sports, and showcase Gulmarg as a premier destination for winter sports in India.
The event will witness the participation of 27 universities from across India, with over 200 athletes competing for top honors. The participating universities include: Darshan University Rajkot, LNIPE, Gwalior, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Rashtriya Raksha University, Maa Shakumbhari University, Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, Shri Khushal Das University, Hanumangarh, Career Point University, Hamirpur (HP), P Savani University, Central University of Kashmir, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, Deemed to be University, Ernakulam, Kerala, Islamic University, Dr. Babba Saheb Ambedkar University, LNCT University Bhopal, CT University, Punjab, Integral University Lucknow, Chandigarh University, University of Lucknow, II MT University Merit, Indira Gandhi TMS University, Zero, Arunachal Pradesh, Shridhar University, Bhagwant University, University of Kota, Paher University, Udaipur, CH Ranbir Singh University, Shree Guru Singh Tercentenary University, Haryana and Dr. Yaswant Singh Parmar University Of Horticulture And Forestry Himachal Pradesh-Solan.
The inauguration ceremony will be held on January 30th, 2025, at Gulmarg, with Shri Satish Sharma, Hon'ble Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. He said the Objectives of the Winter Games included: Promotion of Winter Sports: To encourage university athletes to participate in skiing and ice stock, fostering a culture of winter sports in India. Skill Development: To provide a national platform for athletes to showcase their skills and compete at a high level. Tourism and Culture: To highlight the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Gulmarg, boosting regional tourism. Networking and Collaboration: To facilitate interaction among universities for the development of sports. Fitness Awareness: To raise awareness about the importance of physical activity and fitness among youth.
