GANDERBAL: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the District Mental Health Unit Ganderbal and District Police Ganderbal, organized a Mental Health awareness and Psychiatric consultation camp for prisoners at the Subsidiary Jail Dignibal, Ganderbal today, under the theme "Breaking the Chains of Stigma".
The camp was held under the supervision of Abdul Nasir, Chairman DLSA, Ganderbal and under the guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, aimed to provide mental health services, creates awareness about the importance of mental well-being, and promote inclusivity among prisoners, encouraging them to seek help without fear of stigma.
Dr. Rajnish Raj, PG (Mental Health), and Afshan, Clinical Psychologist, from District Mental Health Unit Ganderbal, provided mental health awareness sessions among the prisoners and psychiatric consultations to those in need. The team interacted with 32 prisoners, addressed their mental health concerns and provided guidance on maintaining good mental well-being.
The camp was also attended by Gurmukh Singh, Incharge, Subsidiary Jail Dignibal Ganderbal, Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant LADC, Ganderbal, Police personals of Subsidiary Jail Dignibal Ganderbal & Adhikaar Mitras of DLSA Ganderbal. The camp was part of DLSA Ganderbal's efforts to promote mental health and well-being among vulnerable populations, including prisoners.
