BARAMULLA: In view of the forthcoming Muharram, a coordination meeting was held at Police Post Mirgund with representatives of the Shia community to discuss and review arrangements for peaceful conduct of religious events.
The meeting was chaired by SDPO Pattan Shri Shahjahan Chowdhury-JKPS and attended by SHO Police Station Pattan and IC PP Mirgund. During the interaction, the community members highlighted certain issues, with the primary concern being the shortage of water in specific areas. The officers assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned departments for timely redressal.
The police authorities also emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and communal harmony. The participants were advised not to display flags or banners associated with any banned organizations. The community representatives acknowledged the advisory and assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies, reiterating their commitment to a peaceful and disciplined conduct of Muharram processions and gatherings.
