JAMMU: Former MLC and BJP spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Girdhari Lal Raina, has expressed his approval of the newly issued roster detailing the schedule for Administrative Secretaries to conduct public darbars across various districts throughout July.
The fresh roster, which supersedes Government Order No 1144-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated June 5, 2024, and Government Order No 1282-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated June 26, 2024, specifies the dates and locations where Administrative Secretaries will engage with the public. According to the General Administration Department (GAD) notification, Deputy Commissioners are tasked with organizing these darbars and ensuring extensive publicity well in advance.
"This initiative marks a positive step towards fostering a responsive administration," remarked Girdhari Lal Raina. He emphasized that such public interactions serve as crucial communication channels between citizens and the administration, enabling ordinary people to address issues directly with department heads.
However, Raina stressed the need for increased frequency of these Public Darbars, noting the vast geographical expanse and substantial population of each district, which necessitates more robust engagement efforts.
Highlighting the plight of the displaced community, Raina urged for the inclusion of "migrant camps" in the darbar schedule. "The displaced community faces unique challenges, residing within the territorial limits of Jammu region while grappling with issues pertinent to their native districts in Kashmir valley," he explained. Raina advocated for a separate darbar facilitated by an Administrative Secretary to address their specific concerns comprehensively.
Expressing optimism, Raina expressed hope that the LG administration would recognize the significance of these initiatives, anticipating their successful implementation to achieve desired outcomes.
