SRINAGAR: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers and its propagators, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party led by Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza at a checkpoint established at Kaigam Crossing intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 23 grams of cannabis like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sahil Rashid Parray son of Ab Rashid Parray resident of Jawbara Awantipora. Accordingly, a case FIR number 171/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
