SRINAGAR: The Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre, Srinagar today organized a one-day seminar on Conservation of Water Bodies in J&K. The event, themed ‘Sustaining Our Lifelines: Strategies for the Conservation of Water Bodies in Jammu & Kashmir,’ brought together participants from different fields, including Corporate Members of IEI, Executive Committee Members, academicians, students from SSM College of Engineering, and engineers and other faculties.
Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Vice Chairman, JKLCMA was the chief guest. The panel of speakers included Er. Humayun Rashid, Senior Scientist, Er. Mueed Rasool, Executive Engineer, JKLCMA and Er. Tasaduq Koul from Irrigation & Flood Control Department, Kashmir besides Sajeel Sajad, student of SSM College of Engineering.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre. In his address, Er. Hakim expressed his sincere gratitude to all participants for their invaluable presence and contributions. He also delivered a comprehensive technical lecture on the event's theme. Dr. Jahangeer Ali, the Honorary Secretary, IEIJKSC, coordinated the programme, ensuring its smooth execution.
This seminar facilitated a robust exchange of knowledge and fostered collaboration between various institutions, significantly inspiring both students and practicing engineers. The discussions and presentations underscored the critical importance of conserving precious water bodies in J&K.
