KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra has been accorded the prestigious status of ‘TCS Priority College’ by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), effective from the current academic year. This accreditation marks a significant milestone in the longstanding partnership between TCS and SMVDU.
With this elevated status, SMVDU will now benefit from early participation in the TCS campus placement process, beginning this placement cycle. In addition, the university will experience deeper and more sustained engagement with TCS through its Academic Alliances Group (AAG) and Talent Acquisition Group (TAG). This collaboration will extend into multiple dimensions, including enhanced academic-industrial interaction, intellectual exchange, and student development initiatives.
It is pertinent to note that TCS has been one of the regular campus recruitment partners of SMVDU since 2010. Over the years, this collaboration has expanded beyond recruitment to include industrial visits, expert lectures, internships, student and faculty development programs, and sponsorships for various curricular and extracurricular events.
The ‘TCS Priority College’ status is valid for a period of three academic years and will be reviewed annually for continuity based on performance and engagement levels. The accreditation followed a comprehensive evaluation by a three-member TCS team, who recently visited the SMVDU campus on 4th April 2025. The visiting team exhibited exceptional professionalism and meticulous attention in assessing various academic and infrastructural aspects of the university. They also provided valuable feedback and suggested pathways for further enhancement of institutional standards.
Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the TCS Management and Evaluation Team for acknowledging the university’s commitment to excellence and for granting the esteemed ‘TCS Priority College’ status. He emphasized that this recognition further strengthens the collaborative relationship between TCS and SMVDU and opens new avenues for academic growth and student success.Professor Kumar also appreciated the wholehearted cooperation and dedication shown by SMVDU students, faculty, and staff during the accreditation process and congratulated the university community on this achievement.
