JAMMU: The two-day International Seminar organized by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Himalayan Education Mission Rajouri, concluded with a valedictory function that highlighted the seminar’s success. Speakers commended the event for its high-quality research presentations on the theme “Jagan Nath Azad ke Iqbal Shanasi.”
The seminar presented thought-provoking papers that explored new dimensions of Jagan Nath Azad’s poetry and his work on Allama Iqbal, the celebrated poet, thinker, and philosopher. The discussions emphasized Azad’s significant contributions to Iqbal studies, particularly through his acclaimed works such as “Iqbal-o-Kashmir” and “Iqbal aur Magrabi Mufkarieen.” Scholars described Azad as not only a poet of exceptional caliber but also a symbol of composite culture, hailing from Mianwali, a district in undivided India.
During the seminar, around 10 research papers were presented, followed by detailed deliberations by participants. These discussions enriched the understanding of Jagan Nath Azad’s literary legacy and his profound insights into Allama Iqbal’s life and philosophy.
Dr. Sunil Kumar, MLA Ramnagar, graced the valedictory function as Chief Guest. He lauded the Department of Urdu for organizing an intellectually stimulating seminar on such a significant topic. Dr. Sunil Kumar emphasized the importance of academic initiatives in advancing intellectual growth and expressed hope that budding scholars benefited from the event.
A book exhibition by Qasmi Kutub Khana, Talab Khatikan, Jammu, was also a highlight of the seminar. Prominent speakers included Dr. Mohd Kazim, Prof. Zaman Azurdah, Dr. Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Dr. T.R. Raina, and others. The two academic sessions featured insightful presentations by scholars such as Dr. Kousar Rasool, Dr. Mushtaq Haider, Dr. Shehnawaz Qadri, Dr. Rehian Hassan, Dr. Asaf Malik, Dr. Saima Choudhary, Dr. Saif Choudhary, and others. These sessions were chaired by esteemed academicians, including Dr. Taqi Abedi, Prof. Mohd Reyaz Ahmad, Prof. Asadullah Wani, Prof. T.R. Raina, and Prof. Zaman Azurdah.
The seminar proceedings were conducted by Dr. Abdul Rashid Manhas and Dr. Farhat Shamim. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Head of the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu.
