The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

JAMMU: Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh chaired a meeting today to review and finalise arrangements for the Army Agniveer Recruitment Rally scheduled to be held at Sunjuwan Military Station from February 3 to February 12, 2025. The rally, being organised by the Army Recruiting Office Jammu, is expected to attract roughly tens of thousands aspirants from all districts of Jammu division.

Detailed deliberations were held on security measures, including perimeter checks, crowd control and anti-social element monitoring. Police authorities were directed to deploy an adequate number of personnel, install metal detectors and ensure traffic management on NH-44 during the event. The Health & Medical Department was tasked with providing doctors, ambulances and drug-testing facilities.

Arrangements for sanitation, water supply and uninterrupted power backup were also discussed, with departments concerned directed to ensure adequate provisions at the venue. BSNL officers were instructed to establish reliable internet connectivity while the Fire & Emergency Services Department was tasked with deploying fire safety equipment and personnel to mitigate any potential risks during the event.

Recognizing the logistical challenges and security concerns, the ADDC stressed the importance of close coordination among various departments to ensure the event's smooth conduct. ADDC Sher Singh emphasised the need to regulate prices of essential goods and services during the rally to prevent exploitation of candidates and their families. He urged all stakeholders to work collectively for hosting such a huge event successfully.

The meeting was attended by Chief Education Officer JK Padha, Executive Engineer Rahat Gupta, Assistant Commissioner General Vikas Dhar Bagati, ARTO Rehana Tabassam besides other officers from the district administration and the Indian army.
