The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

JAMMU: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raman Suri has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for the decision to reopen 14 tourist destinations across Jammu Kashmir that were closed as a precautionary measure following the Pahalgam attack. He termed the move as visionary, timely and confidence-inspiring for the tourism sector.

He said the decision, taken after extensive discussions and a detailed review of the security situation, reflects the Lieutenant Governor’s commitment to restoring normalcy and strengthening the economy of the Union Territory. He noted that the reopening of these destinations will send a strong and positive message to domestic as well as international tourists about the improving security environment in Jammu Kashmir.

He further stated that there had been a long-standing demand from tourism stakeholders, local residents and business communities to reopen these scenic spots, which witness heavy footfall every year. The Chief Minister had earlier indicated that discussions were underway with the Central Government and assured that any decision would be made only after a comprehensive security assessment and now that after security clearance these spots have been thrown open for tourists it’s a big deal.

The reopened destinations including Yusmarg and Doodhpathri in Budgam, Dandipora Park in Kokernag, Pir Ki Gali, Dubjan and Padapavan in Shopian, Astanpora and Tulip Garden in Srinagar, Thajwas Glacier and Hung Park in Ganderbal, Wular in Baramulla, Mahu in Jammu division, Devi Pindi in Reasi, Mangat in Ramban and Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar will enhance tourism in a big way and add to our socio-economic progress.

Describing tourism as the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, Raman Suri said thousands of families directly and indirectly depend on this sector for their livelihood. He added that reopening more tourist destinations will generate employment opportunities, boost business activity and further strengthen public confidence.

He highlighted that the annual pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Amarnath Cave is set to begin in the coming months. He said many devotees undertaking the sacred yatra are keen to explore various tourist destinations during their visit, and this decision will enhance their overall experience while benefiting the local economy.

Reiterating his appreciation, Raman Suri commended the proactive leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in ensuring both security and development go hand in hand. He urged tourists from across the country and abroad to visit Jammu Kashmir and experience its unmatched natural beauty, cultural richness and warm hospitality.
