The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

PULWAMA: The sixth day of Sewa Parv celebrations in Pulwama district witnessed a diverse range of activities organised by different departments, combining themes of cleanliness, health, culture, education, and community service. Rural Development Department (RDD) led special block-level cleanliness drives across the district, accompanied by nukkad nataks (street plays) that highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in keeping public spaces clean.

Under the cultural theme of the campaign, wall painting drives were carried out at prominent public locations, depicting messages on sanitation, education, environment, and civic responsibility.

Similarly as part of Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, women-focused health initiatives, special screening camps, maternal and child health awareness sessions, and counselling programmes were organised at Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs by Health Department & Ayush department. A large number of citizens, particularly women and adolescents, availed preventive and curative health services provided by doctors and paramedical staff.

Alongside these initiatives, a consolidated series of awareness and outreach programmes were carried out across the district. Departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, KPDCL, and Finance educated people about their respective schemes and services, while free medicine distribution drives were also carried out simultaneously.

Finance department guided pensioners on services of the Pension Suvidha Portal, while ITI Pampore held a skill development camp, and Mission YUVA registration and awareness drive at Aripal promoted women-led enterprises. Educational institutions also hosted awareness sessions for students on themes of civic responsibility, health, and environment.

To engage youth and promote healthy lifestyles, a series of sports and awareness events were conducted in various zones, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and the local community.

Meanwhile, as part of the Angikaar Campaign 2025, district administration in collaboration with Municipal Council Pulwama organised a mega outreach programme, PM Awas Mela (Shehri) at Town Hall Pulwama. Aimed at accelerating the implementation of PMAY-U 2.0, the event spread awareness about the scheme’s objectives, eligibility, and benefits.

The highlight of the event was the ‘Run for Housing’, flagged-off by the ADC Pulwama from Clock Tower to Town Hall Pulwama. At Town Hall, departmental stalls and a Help Desk was established with the Lead Bank providing information, grievance redressal, and on-spot registration for beneficiaries under PMAY-U. The mela also included plantation drives, cultural performances, essay and painting competitions, and a plantation drive.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
