The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

RAJOURI:  The sixth day of the ongoing Sewa Parv being observed from September 17 to October 2, 2025 witnessed another energetic round of multi-sectoral activities across Rajouri district, focusing on spreading awareness, providing public services and encouraging community participation. The Line Departments and institutions came together with a spirit of Sewa (service) to organise inclusive events aimed at public welfare and engagement.

The Animal Husbandry Department hosted awareness programs for cattle breeders to acquaint them with various government schemes aimed at improving access to veterinary services and different support programs. In a move to engage youth, intra-college quiz competitions and donation drives were organised across various Degree Colleges, coupled with college campus cleanliness drives to instill values of responsibility and community hygiene among the students.

The ICDS Department facilitated registration of eligible women under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), ensuring access to maternity benefits and nutritional support for expectant and lactating mothers. The Fisheries Department engaged the farming community through Kisan Goshtis, offering expert advice and information on various central and UT-sponsored fisheries schemes.

Promoting digital empowerment, Common Services Centres (CSCs) conducted awareness sessions on digital literacy and cyber hygiene, educating citizens on safe digital practices and the benefits of online services. The Health Department set up screening camps and facilitated registrations under the Ayushman Bharat – PM-JAY scheme, helping citizens access free health insurance and medical benefits.

Driving financial awareness, J&K Bank organised financial inclusion and enrollment drives, encouraging citizens to open bank accounts, learn about digital banking and avail government financial schemes. The Agriculture Department held awareness sessions on PM Kisan, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) and Soil Health Cards, aiming to boost productivity and ensure farmers have better access to credit and resources.

In addition to these, various other departments also carried out a wide range of public welfare and outreach activities, reinforcing the government's commitment to holistic and inclusive development. As Sewa Parv 2025 progresses, the district of Rajouri continues to serve as a beacon of collaborative governance, community spirit and service-driven development.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
