ANANTNAG: To commemorate International Women’s Day, a celebratory programme was organized today in Anantnag, bringing together a vibrant community of female entrepreneurs, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, and artisans.
The Programme was graced by DDM NABARD, Rouf Zargar; LDM Anantnag, Mohammad Shafi and Director RSETI, Mushtaq Ahmad besides officials from NRLM and Centre for Financial Literacy were also present.
The event with the theme “Give to Gain” was held in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), served as a platform to recognize the pivotal role of women in the socio-economic transformation of the district.
District Development Manager NABARD, inaugurated the session by detailing the NABARDs strategic role in rural women’s empowerment, specifically highlighting the success of the SHG-Bank Linkage Programme and support to SHGs through MEDP and LEDP programmes.
LDM addressed the participants by providing a comprehensive roadmap of "bankable" credit schemes, such as Mudra and PMEGP, urging women to leverage formal banking channels to scale their micro-enterprises.
Additionally, the Director of RSETI emphasized the critical importance of vocational training, outlining the various skill-development courses offered at the institute that transform traditional craft into sustainable, modern businesses.
The celebration concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where five prominent women achievers from the district were honoured by NABARD for their exemplary success in local industry and social leadership.
Officials from the NRLM were also present to provide technical guidance, reinforcing their commitment to providing continuous handholding and market access for rural products.
The event served as both a recognition of past milestones and a forward-looking seminar, ensuring that the female artisans of Anantnag are equipped with the financial literacy and technical expertise needed to thrive in a competitive economy.
