KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today visited Vessu Migrant Colony and Chowgam (Devsar) to review the progress of transit accommodation projects being constructed for Kashmiri Pandit employees in the district. During the visit, the DC inspected the ongoing works and took stock of the pace and quality of construction.

At Chowgam, the DC reviewed the construction of 192 transit accommodation flats, out of which 160 flats have been completed so far. The project is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs.34 crore. At Vessu, the DC also inspected the progress made on the flats. He directed the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the projects while strictly adhering to quality standards.

He emphasized the importance of completing the remaining works within the stipulated timeframe so that the accommodation can be made available to the beneficiaries at the earliest. At Vessu Migrant Colony, the DC also inaugurated a newly established library aimed at providing educational and reading facilities for the residents.
