JAMMU: A meeting of prominent people of Nagrota Assembly Constituency was held today at Narsingh Mandir, Jindrah to deliberate upon issues and demands concerning the people of Nagrota Assembly Constituency. The meeting was convened under the banner of the All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) and was attended by several respected members of the community.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that a peaceful hunger strike (Anshan) will be organized in support of certain genuine demands concerning the people of Nagrota Assembly Constituency. Anil Sharma, President of AJKPC, will lead the hunger strike agitation.
The hunger strike will commence on Sunday, March 15 at 12:00 Noon at Narsingh Mandir, Jindrah. The first phase of the hunger strike will continue for 72 hours (three days). If the Government or the concerned administration initiates dialogue within this period and takes steps towards addressing the demands, the agitation may be called off.
However, if no response is received, the hunger strike may be extended for another 72 hours. The participants resolved that the agitation will remain peaceful and disciplined, and no slogans will be raised against any political party, as the focus of the movement will remain solely on the demands concerning the people of the constituency.
It was also stated that any Hon’ble MLA, Member of Parliament, Minister, or Government representative who wishes to visit the protest site will be welcomed, and a memorandum highlighting the demands will be submitted to them. The representatives further informed that a formal representation will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.
The hunger strike and agitation will be conducted under the banner and flag of the All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC). Support from individuals across political parties and civil society is welcome. Any elected representative who wishes to join the hunger strike in solidarity with the people will also be welcomed.
