JAMMU: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Central University of Jammu under the visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, organized the Student Induction cum Orientation Programme 2025 to welcome the newly inducted B.Tech. 2025–2029 batch students. The programme embarked the beginning of academic journey for students enrolled in three branches: B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering, B.Tech.in Computer Science & Engineering with Specialization in Cyber Security, and B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing. The event was designed to provide students with a seamless transition into university life while acquainting them with the academic culture, infrastructure, and opportunities offered by the University.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu, underscored that the induction programme serves as a vital bridge for newcomers, offering valuable insights, opportunities for active engagement, and an introduction to the vibrant academic community of the University. He further highlighted the extensive range of student-centric facilities, infrastructural support, and policies that reflect the University’s commitment to holistic student development.
The proceedings continued with a welcome address by Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Head, Department of CSE & CSIT, who introduced the department, highlighted the curriculum, and outlined the academic resources available to support student learning and growth.
Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students’ Welfare, highlighted the activities of the DSW office and its commitment to student welfare. Prof. Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages and Director of Physical Education, along with Dr. R. Sudhakar encouraged students to participate actively in sports and extracurricular activities to maintain a healthy balance between academic and physical growth.
Prof. Neelika Arora, Dean, School of Business Studies and Member Secretary of the GSCASH Committee, spoke about the objectives and role of GSCASH in ensuring a safe and inclusive campus.
Dr. Sujata Kundan, Faculty Incharge NSS, sensitized students about the importance of social responsibility through the National Service Scheme. Mr. Suryaksh Dubey, Training and Placement Officer, highlighted career development opportunities, internships, and placement activities, while Dr. Vijayata Puri, Medical Officer, briefed students on the healthcare facilities available on campus.
Further, Mr. Romesh Chander, Librarian, introduced students to the library facilities and extensive digital resources. Dr. Amanpreet Kour Bali, Clinical Psychologist, engaged with the students on the importance of mental health and counseling support at the University. Faculty members from the Department of CSE, Dr. Palak Mahajan and Dr. Jasvinder Pal Singh elaborated on the functioning of various Tech events, Departmental clubs, and their role in nurturing student talent.
The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Bhavna Arora along with Dr. Deepti Malhotra, Dr. Suresh Limkar, and Mr. Arun Sharma, Mr. Pankaj Choudhary. The senior students from higher semesters also shared their experiences and guided the newcomers about student events and competitions, encouraging peer-to-peer engagement.The Orientation Programme concluded with an interactive session where CSE & CSIT faculty welcomed the new batch, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence, innovation, and active participation in University life.
