BANDIPORA: In a groundbreaking initiative, District Bandipora has launched an extensive awareness drive under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan covering 31 villages across six blocks viz. Tulail, Bandipora, Arin, Bankoote, Gurez, and Bakhtore. The campaign, rolled out with great enthusiasm, aims to empower the local populace with a special focus on the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, which constitutes a substantial segment of the district’s demographic profile.

With a total ST population of 39,420 out of 50,408 souls spread across 75,07 households, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between government services and community needs. To ensure effective outreach and coordination, a dedicated cadre of 53 has been constituted at the district level, while 790 personnel have been deployed at the block and village levels to provide guidance, support, and awareness to the local populace.

The awareness drive has been marked by vibrant engagement activities including skits, folk songs, traditional drum performances, and transect walks conducted from hamlet to hamlet and village to village. These activities have not only added colour and enthusiasm to the campaign but also fostered a deep sense of community participation and ownership.

The initiative has witnessed an overwhelming response from the people, with massive participation in Gram Sabhas across all six blocks. Villagers have actively contributed to the planning process of 17 ministries and 25 interventions, marking a significant step towards participatory governance and inclusive development. The campaign has also involved door-to-door awareness drives and dissemination of Gram Sabha notices to ensure that no household remains uninformed or excluded from the process.

The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan in Bandipora marks a new chapter in grassroots empowerment and participatory planning. By fostering active citizen engagement, especially among the tribal population, the initiative is set to bring about far-reaching social, economic, and cultural transformations, paving the way for a brighter and more self-reliant future for the people of Bandipora.
