SAMBA: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) today organized an Export Awareness Workshop and E-Commerce onboarding drive at the DC Office Complex, Samba under the guidance of Managing Director, JKTPO Sudershan Kumar. The Workshop aimed at sensitizing local producers, entrepreneurs and artisans about export opportunities and digital market access.
The event received an overwhelming response with over 110 participants, including entrepreneurs, traders, farmers and self-help groups from Samba district. Participants appreciated JKTPO’s efforts in promoting export awareness and creating a platform for business growth and market linkage.
The workshop was organised with ODOP team of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), focusing on imparting knowledge about Government export promotion schemes, financial and insurance assistance for exporters and the compliance and documentation required to obtain an Importer Exporter Code (IEC). An E-Commerce Onboarding Drive was also held in collaboration with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to help local sellers expand their reach through online platforms.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Champa Devi appreciated the initiative and stated “So far, producers and manufacturers from the district have primarily focused on the domestic market. This workshop serves as a platform to help them explore international opportunities. Our products already meet global standards, but many farmers and producers lack awareness about export processes. I’m confident that this initiative will empower them to confidently venture into global markets.
The workshop witnessed participation from representatives of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and HDFC Bank, who shared detailed insights into their respective domains and explained various schemes and benefits available for exporters. A representative from GeM also guided participants on the GeM onboarding process for sellers.
As part of its ongoing outreach initiative, similar Export Awareness Workshops and E-Commerce Onboarding Drives are scheduled in Jammu (8th October), Kathua (9th October) and Udhampur (10th October) to further promote export readiness and digital enablement across the districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The JKTPO remains committed to empowering local entrepreneurs and producers by providing them with the knowledge, support and opportunities required to integrate with national and international markets.
