SOPORE: As part of its ongoing public outreach and legal awareness initiative, J&K Police organised an awareness programme on the New Criminal Laws at Sanatorium Public School, Lalad, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo.
The event aimed to educate students about the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023—the new legislations replacing the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act. Students were sensitised about key provisions of these laws, their rights and duties as responsible citizens, and the role of law in ensuring justice and public safety. SDPO Sopore, Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, attended the event and highlighted the importance of understanding the new legal framework, especially among the youth.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to spreading legal literacy, promoting civic awareness, and building stronger police-community relations through such initiatives.
