JAMMU: The Department of Social Work, in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Jammu successfully organised a "Safe Digital Practices Awareness Workshop" today at the BRS Auditorium, CU Jammu. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among students and faculty members about safe digital practices, payments, and the preventive measures to protect themselves from online financial fraud.
In his welcome address, Dr. Vinay Kumar, Associate Professor and Convener of the event, emphasised the relevance of such workshops in a rapidly growing digital environment and the role played in promoting responsible and secure use of online platforms. He highlighted that students of social work engage with the communities in their fieldwork and this awareness workshop will equip them with knowledge to be disseminated and help empower the communities.
Prof. A.K. Nanda, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences chaired the session. He shared the lived experiences of individuals trapped in digital fraud and appreciated the timely organised workshop by the Dept. of Social work.
The esteemed guests from RBI, Mrs Anjali Verma and Mr Nitish Mahajan in the interactive session explained various types of financial frauds, preventive measures, and initiatives launched by the Reserve Bank of India for safe digital transactions. They discussed various modes of transaction through apps and online banking and the various security measures to be adopted, highlighting available redressal mechanisms. Session concluded with a quiz competition for the students with attractive prizes.
Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor in his message appreciated the efforts undertaken by the social work department noting that such collaborations are vital to the university’s mission of youth empowerment and national financial security. The event was coordinated by doctoral scholars Ms. Avneet Kaur and Ms. Tanya Misra, with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Sanskriti Singh.
