GANDERBAL: The valedictory function of the “Hindi Pakhvara” organised by the Rajbhasha Cell of the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) from 14th to 30th, September, was organised at the Tulmulla Campus here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, congratulated the staff members for actively and enthusiastically participating in competitions including dictation of admn vocabulary, essay/letter writing, translation/poetry and Hindi noting and drafting.

“These activities encourage employees to correspond in Hindi more frequently, thereby promoting its practical application in daily office functioning,” CUKashmir Vice Chancellor said. Highlighting the significance of promoting Hindi as a link language that unites the diverse communities of India, Prof. A Ravinder Nath emphasized that Hindi Pakhvara is not merely a symbolic observance, but a reminder of the collective responsibility to strengthen the language of administration, culture, and unity. He later distributed cash prizes and certificates among the participants.

Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir in his speech appreciated the university staff for their bilingual proficiency (Hindi and English) in official working and encouraged them to further refine and hone their skills. He emphasized the significance of learning Hindi, especially when travelling across India, where most road signs, instructions, and essential information are displayed in the language. He noted that familiarity with Hindi eases communication and helps one navigate easily across the country.

Dean, School of Life Sciences, Dr. Abid Hamid Dar stated that Hindi serves as a unifying thread across India’s vast cultural and linguistic diversity. He pointed out that nations worldwide take pride in preserving and promoting their native tongues, and similarly, Indians must cherish and advance the use of Hindi as a symbol of shared identity and unity.

Controller of Examinations, Prof. C. Naseema urged the participants to develop both written and spoken fluency in Hindi, highlighting its importance as a link language across India. She observed that Hindi, as the Rajbhasha, transcends religious and regional boundaries, belonging equally to every citizen, and therefore deserves to be learned and promoted by all.

Finance Officer, Dr. Arif Ahmad Khan, remarked that the observance of Hindi Pakhvara has provided employees with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the language and clear doubts about its usage. He lauded the enthusiasm of participants and emphasized that such initiatives foster both learning and linguistic confidence among staff members.

Librarian, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat congratulated the Rajbhasha Cell for successfully organizing the Hindi Pakhvara and praised the staff for their active participation, which reflected their genuine interest in mastering Hindi and incorporating it into official communication.

Earlier, Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakeena Akhter, gave a detailed resume about the functioning of the Rajbhasha Cell. Dr. Sakeena said the competitions were designed to encourage fluency and accuracy in using administrative Hindi and proved to be an engaging and informative exercise for the participants. In the competitions, Mr. Tabassum Imran bagged the first position, while as Mr. Mohammad Irfan Bhat and Ms. Gazala Mir, won the second and third spots respectively.
