JAMMU: Dr. Sandeep Gupta has assumed the charge of Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu. Dr. Sandeep Gupta has previously served in the New Delhi Headquarters of IGNOU and also at the Regional Centre Srinagar and has a varied understanding and experience of student service management and Regional Centre operations.
The Regional Director in a press statement informed that IGNOU has made the admission portal for January 2025 cycle operational for fresh and re-registration for the prospective as well as registered students of the University.
Those who want to seek fresh admission can access the admission portal on the IGNOUâs National website www.ignou.ac.in on the Homepage or directly follow the link https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Those already registered for any of the annual or semester-based programmes can apply for next year or semester through the RR portal which can directly be accessed by following the link https://onlinerr.ignou.ac.in/. The last date to apply for admission as well as re-registration through the online portal has been fixed for January 31, 2025.
Dr. Sandeep informed about the kitty of programmes in management, Home Science, Fashion design, Health Care, Rehabilitation Psychology, MSME, Tribal Affairs, Journalism, etc that IGNOU has launched in the recent past which are aligned with the National Education Policy, 2020 and are specially designed to address the global market trends and requirements, emerging demand from the Social, Industrial and other allied sectors, aiming to make our national economy more resilient while enhancing the career prospects of students. The course material has also been updated which is developed on the basis of National Education Policy, 2020.
Regional Director expressed that IGNOU is about to establish a Learner Support Centre in the prestigious GGM Science College, Jammu very soon for the Science oriented programmes. He also deliberated about the contribution of IGNOU to the Gross Enrolment Ratio in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
Regional Director informed that the students must exercise caution in making online transactions and as far as possible must use their own credit/debit card to make payment so that in case the admission gets cancelled the refund amount gets credited back into the same account.
He also informed that in case the learners are using third-party services like cybercafé or some other outlet, they must ensure that the courses have been correctly chosen and payment of fee has been made successfully.
Dr. Sandeep also cautioned the prospective students not to fall in trap of any fraudulent persons or callers who may approach for payment of admission fees through QR Codes, WhatsApp or any other social media platforms because IGNOU does not ask for any such details on any such platforms other than the University website.
