POONCH: The DM Chess Championship wrapped up successfully today after three days of intense competition at DNRM Girls Higher Secondary School, showcasing remarkable talent from both male and female contestants. Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal engaged with the participants at the closing ceremony, extending his congratulations and support.
Programme Officer ICDS Khalid Hussain Wafa, DYSSO, Mool Raj Uttam, Prof. Shamim Banday, Principal Anjuman Shaheen and PEM Vijay Kumar and others were present. The championship saw a total of 57 registered contestants. In the female category, Heena Mir secured the top position, with Vanshika Raina and Arya Kouser earning second and third prizes, respectively. In the boys' category, Saravjot Singh claimed the first prize, followed by Deeraj Sharma securing second place and Nitin Sharma taking third.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner presented prizes and cheques to the winners, commending their hard work and dedication towards the game. The event not only highlighted the skills of the players but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship within the community.
