ANANTNAG: The Department of Pediatrics at GMC Anantnag organized a CME on "Simulation of Advanced Pediatric Life Saving Course" in collaboration with the British Kashmiri Medical Association on the 8th of August, 2024 (Thursday). The event featured a series of insightful lectures and sessions led by esteemed medical professionals from the UK and India.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Showkat Hussain Tali, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Pediatrics. Following this, the inauguration and opening of the CME were conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal/Dean of GMC Anantnag. In her address, Dr. Najeeb highlighted the importance of advanced pediatric life-saving techniques and the impact of such educational initiatives on improving pediatric healthcare outcomes.
She emphasized the collaborative effort between GMC Anantnag and the British Kashmiri Medical Association, underscoring the significance of international cooperation in medical education and training.
Dr. Mehdi Hassan Teeli, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine from the University Teaching Hospital of East Lancashire NHS Trust and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, UK, provided a detailed lecture on Emergency Medicine. His presentation offered an update on the latest advancements and best practices in emergency medicine, with a focus on pediatric care.
A detailed and mind-refreshing lecture on Pediatric Life Support was given by Dr. Yasir Rashid, a Consultant with the NHS in the UK. Dr. Rashid's session covered essential techniques and protocols for pediatric life support, ensuring that participants are equipped with the knowledge to effectively manage critical pediatric cases.
Dr. Masood Iqbal Bhat, an ES Specialist with the NHS in the UK, offered updated insights into neonatal pediatric trauma. His lecture addressed the unique challenges and approaches required for managing traumatic injuries in neonates, providing participants with practical strategies to improve patient outcomes.
The session on resuscitation was jointly conducted by Dr. Mehdi Hassan Teeli and Dr. Mudassir, both Consultants with the NHS in the UK. They demonstrated advanced resuscitation techniques and protocols, ensuring that attendees gained hands-on experience and confidence in managing pediatric resuscitation scenarios.
The CME cum workshop was attended by Prof (Dr) Sheikh Mushtaq, Prof (Dr) Gh Rasool Wani, Prof (Dr) Reyaz Ahmad Malik, Dr Mohd Ashraf Bhat apart from faculty members, consultants, medical officers, paramedical and nursing staff.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Malik Shakir Hussain, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. The Spokesperson GMC Anantnag, also emphasized the significance of such educational initiatives and expressing gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions.
