JAMMU: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, today organised an extension lecture titled “Fundamentals of Geographical Field Techniques” under the Shiksha Shashtrarth Forum. The Shiksha Shashtrarth initiative, launched by the School of Education, serves as a distinguished platform for intellectual discourse and academic enrichment.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain. The Head of the Department, Prof. Asit Mantry, formally welcomed the resource person, Dr. Rajinder Singh, by presenting a memento. The course-in-charge, Ms. Shivali Khajuria, introduced the guest speaker and highlighted the significance of the lecture.
Dr. Rajinder Singh, Senior Scientist from the Department of Geography, University of Jammu, delivered an insightful and comprehensive presentation on geographical field techniques. His lecture covered key areas such as Geographical Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial data analysis, emerging trends in geospatial technology, and the importance of fieldwork in geographical studies. He also discussed relevant case studies and traced the evolution of fieldwork techniques in geography.
The session witnessed active participation from students, who engaged in an interactive discussion with the speaker. Dr. Singh addressed their queries in detail and emphasized the importance of practical field techniques in enhancing research and academic understanding. His lecture significantly contributed to deepening students’ knowledge of geographical field survey methods.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Shivali Khajuria, expressing gratitude to the resource person and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the lecture.
