JAMMU: The Northern Zonal Accountancy Training Institute (NZATI), Jammu, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare (RIHFW), Nagrota, organized a session on Basic Life Support (BLS) on 21.04.2026 for the JKAS (Accounts) probationers who have embarked upon their Phase–II training program (SAC–II).

The program was presided over by Shri Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Director General Accounts & Treasuries, Finance Department, Jammu and Kashmir, and conducted under the able guidance of Shri Rajesh Talwar, Director Finance/Principal, NZATI, Jammu.

Among others, Dr. Manoj Bhagat, Principal, Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare; Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD, Anesthesia (Master Trainer); Dr. Kapil Sharma (Public Health); Rajeev Gupta, In-charge Skill Lab Coordinator at RIHFW Nagrota; Sh. Rajesh Kotwal, Director, Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu; and Sh. Ishfaq Ahmad Pandith, Joint Director (Central), Directorate General of Accounts & Treasuries, J&K were also present.

The session was organized with the objective of equipping the probationers with essential life-saving skills and enhancing their preparedness to respond effectively in emergency situations. The technical and practical sessions were conducted by Dr. Shelly Mahajan, Dr. Kapil Sharma, and Rajeev Gupta. The team provided hands-on practice sessions wherein participants performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and airway management techniques for both adult and neonatal resuscitation under Basic Life Support protocols, aimed at saving lives during emergency situations.

They emphasized the importance of such training programs in building first-response capabilities among officers. The training was delivered through a simulation-based and interactive approach, enabling participants to gain practical exposure and confidence in handling real-life emergencies.

While addressing the probationers, ShriFayaz Ahmad Lone emphasized the importance of such capacity-building initiatives, stating that officers must be equipped not only with domain knowledge but also with essential emergency response skills. The session witnessed active participation and was highly appreciated by the probationers for its practical relevance and importance.
