JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated 17th batch of the Nurturing Future Leadership Program under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training initiative, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India on 9th March 2026 at Jagti Campus.Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Program Director and Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, presided over the inaugural ceremony.  The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and collective wisdom.The training program consisted of 16 participants from different parts of the country.

Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Programme Director, Indian Institute of Management Jammu, shared an overview of the five-day programme and emphasized the importance of staying relevant in today’s rapidly evolving professional landscape. Reflecting on the growth journey of the Institute, he noted that from an initial strength of around 60 students, IIM Jammu has today expanded to more than 1000 students across its various programmes.Sharing his experience as the former Chairperson (Admissions), he mentioned how students were once encouraged to record short videos highlighting the sense of safety and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, which helped build confidence among prospective students and their families and contributed to greater gender diversity on campus.

He also highlighted the diverse academic programmes offered at IIM Jammu, including the MBA in Healthcare Management, jointly offered with AIIMS Jammu and IIT Jammu, and the dual degree B.Tech + MBA programme in collaboration with IIT Jammu. He further noted that the Institute currently has around 60 faculty members and robust academic infrastructure, including the Nalanda Library and Harvard-style classrooms, supporting the case-based pedagogy for which IIMs are widely known.

Prof. Prashant Mishra, Program Director and Chairperson,Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C), Indian Institute of Management Jammu, warmly welcomed the participants, describing the program as a homecoming for professionals and members of the academic and industry fraternity, and encouraging them to feel at home at the Institute. In his address, he shared an overview of the Executive Education & Consultancy initiatives at IIM Jammu, emphasizing their importance in bridging industry practices and academic learning. He pointed out that bringing insights and experiences from industry engagement back into the classroom enhances students’ learning experiences.He also briefly shared his professional journey and highlighted his role in leading the Executive Education & Consultancy initiatives at the Institute, reinforcing IIM Jammu’s commitment to continuous learning and knowledge exchange.

Dr. Prashant Mishra,Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C) and Program Director, IIM Jammu, delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the participants, faculty members, and organizing team for their contributions to the successful inauguration of Batch-17.

Participants gave their brief introductions along with their expectations from the training program. The Nurturing Future Leadership Program continues to reinforce IIM Jammu’s commitment to capacity building, academic excellence, and collaborative knowledge creation.The training program is being coordinated by IIM Jammu Executive Education and Consultancy.
