JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the Leadership Skills for Managers: Trekking-Based Management Development Programme (MDP) for NTPC Limited with a valedictory ceremony held today at the Jagti Campus. The three-day programme, conducted in the scenic Lower Himalayas, witnessed the participation of 44 professionals from across the country, reflecting a diverse blend of managerial experience and perspectives.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy; Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Anandam and Media & Publication Division; and Dr. Ashish Kumar, Co-Chairperson and Program Director, IIM Jammu. The programme, conducted in the serene environs of the Lower Himalayas, uniquely combined experiential trekking with structured leadership learning, aimed at enhancing decision-making, resilience, teamwork, and strategic thinking among participants.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, Indian Institute of Management Jammu, appreciated the participants’ reflections and emphasized that managerial leadership skills are crucial in today’s dynamic environment. He highlighted that the programme was thoughtfully customized to suit sector-specific needs, enabling participants to apply their learnings effectively. He underscored that upskilling and learning are continuous processes and noted that such experiential programmes also help in relieving stress while fostering holistic development. He expressed his hope of welcoming the participants again in the near future.
Dr. Ashish Kumar, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy and Program Director, Indian Institute of Management Jammu, expressed hope that participants gained valuable learnings and invited them for future programmes. He also highlighted the Executive MBA (EMBA) and Ph.D for working professionals and encouraged them to leverage it while seeking their feedback after six months on the programme’s impact. The valedictory ceremony featured a welcome address and a programme report by Dr. Ashish Kumar, followed by participant reflections highlighting the transformative experiential learning and its practical leadership applications.
Participants shared their reflections on the programme, highlighting their intent to apply the learnings in their professional journeys. They appreciated sessions such as personal branding and commended the programme for its effective design and seamless organization by Indian Institute of Management Jammu.
The ceremony also included the distribution of certificates to all participants, marking the completion of the programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Pardeep Saini, Program Officer, Business Development, IIM Jammu Executive Education and Consultancy followed by the National Anthem. The training program was coordinated by IIM Jammu Executive Education and Consultancy.
