SHOPIAN: In a continued effort to strengthen investigative standards, J&K Police in Shopian conducted one-day refresher course for Investigating Officers (IOs) on new criminal laws.
The programme was inaugurated by SSP Shopian at the District Training Centre (DTC), DPL Shopian. It aimed at equipping IOs with updated legal knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective investigation under the revised legal framework.
During the programme, senior officers sensitised the participants on crucial aspects such as scientific evidence handling, updated procedural requirements and accurate documentation. Special emphasis was laid on identifying common shortcomings in investigations and adopting corrective measures to ensure legally robust casework. The sessions also provided detailed insights into key provisions of the new criminal laws, along with best practices for conducting thorough, professional and result-oriented investigations.
Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, SSP Shopian stated that regular capacity-building programmes play a significant role in enhancing investigative efficiency and securing better conviction rates. These efforts are part of a broader commitment to strengthening the criminal justice system in line with evolving legal standards. Police reaffirmed their commitment to continuous training and upskilling of personnel to ensure high standards of professionalism and effective delivery of justice.
