KULGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today convened a meeting, to review the implementation of the ICDS schemes and programmes including Supplementary Nutrition Programme, Early Childhood Care and education (ECCE), Immunization, and non formal pre-school education to children in the age group of 0 to 6-years.
District Programme Officer (DPO) ICDS Kulgam through a PowerPoint presentation apprised the chair that there are 1208 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) operational in the district. He informed that in order to meet the staff deficiencies, 37 Workers and 129 Anganwadi helpers have been engaged till date.
The meeting discussed in detail the functioning of Integrated Child Development Services in district, especially availability of Medicine Kits and Pre School Kits and other facilities at Anganwadi centers.
The DC instructed CDPOs and supervisors to visit their Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) on regular intervals to assess working of these centres and to enhance the effectiveness of services focussing on targeted beneficiaries especially, Adolescent girls, Pregnant and Lactating women with special focus on Stunted, Wasted, Under-weight and Obese Children.
The DC instructed the concerned officers to ensure full expenditure of funds to upgrade the facilities available at Anganwadi centres. The meeting was attended by ADC,Viqar Ahmad Giri; DPO-Abdul Rasheed, AD Planning, SA Planning, CDPOs, and Supervisors.
