JAMMU: The holy city of Jammu echoed with the chants of ‘Bham Bham Bhole’ as the auspicious Amarnath Yatra commenced with great devotion and enthusiasm from the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. In a press statement issued here today, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), hailed the spiritual fervour witnessed across the region and welcomed the devotees embarking on the sacred journey to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.

He lauded the Jammu and Kashmir Govt for making adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra and ensuring the safety, comfort, and convenience of pilgrims coming from across the globe. “It is heartening to see the J&K Govt rise to the occasion by facilitating elaborate security, medical, transportation, and accommodation arrangements for the Yatris. The efforts of all departments involved are commendable,” he said.

The senior NC leader said that massive arrangements have been put in place, particularly at the Yatri Niwas in Bhagwati Nagar and other transit camps along the route, reflecting the government’s commitment to uphold the sanctity and significance of this annual pilgrimage.

Calling the Yatra a symbol of India’s spiritual unity and communal harmony, the senior NC leader appealed to the people, especially the youth, to participate in large numbers and extend wholehearted cooperation in ensuring a peaceful and successful Yatra. “Amarnath Yatra is not just a religious event, but a celebration of our centuries-old ethos of brotherhood and shared culture,” he emphasized.

Rattan Lal Gupta also urged the locals to continue the traditional role of hosts, showcasing the warmth and hospitality that Jammu and Kashmir is known for. “The people of Jammu, especially traders, transporters, hoteliers, and volunteers have always played a significant role in facilitating this Yatra. Their contribution is invaluable and deserves praise,” he added.

The Provincial President reiterated the importance of such spiritual events in promoting peace, brotherhood, and positive engagement among communities. He expressed hope that the blessings of Lord Shiva would usher in an era of harmony and prosperity in the region. He also prayed for the successful and safe completion of the Yatra and expressed confidence that with collective efforts, Jammu and Kashmir will continue to emerge as a beacon of spiritual tourism in India.
