GANDERBAL, BUDGAM & PULWAMA: Continuing its unwavering drive against drug menace, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal, Budgam & Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession. In Budgam, a police party from Police Post Humhama, during patrolling near Goripora, arrested a drug peddler identified as Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh resident of Bandgam A/P Draigam Khansahib. During search, 05 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Similarly in Pulwama, during a naka checking at Circular Road near Payer Crossing, a police team from Police Station Pulwama arrested a drug peddler identified as Nisar Ahmad Ganaie son of Abdul Ahad Ganaie resident of Tahab, Pulwama. During search, officers recovered around 6 kilograms of a charas-like substance concealed in a nylon bag from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated. Meanwhile in Handwara, J&K Police carried out special raids at various identified drug hotspot locations across Police District Handwara. These raids were conducted by different police parties under the supervision of senior officers. During the operation, multiple areas suspected of being used for drug-related activities were searched thoroughly.
Police have made it clear that strict action will be taken against drug peddlers and persons found involved in promoting or supporting the drug trade. The raids are part of the sustained drive of J&K Police to safeguard the youth and society from the harmful effects of drugs.
