SRINAGAR: In order to pay tribute to martyrs on Police Commemoration Day 2024, and in observance of Police Flag Day Week, Police organised series of events across the valley. Besides, visited families of Police martyrs to pay heartfelt tribute to them.
In Pulwama, Police organized Cultural programmes at Dolphin Higher Secondary School Pulwama and Future Pack School Shadimarg to eulogize the valour, dedication and sacrifice of the Police personnel of J&K Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty and to provide a platform to the young, budding and enthusiastic artists. The students and teachers showcased solidarity and respect for the valiant efforts and sacrifices of J&K Police martyrs, through their enthusiastic participation and by performing numerous skits and patriotic songs.
Awantipora Police visited martyr families in Sub Division Pampore to express solidarity and to see the wellbeing of the families. During interaction with the families of Martyrs, officers listened their grievances patiently and assured redressal of their genuine problems. Moreover, as a mark of respect and honour, portraits of Martyrs of Sub-division Pampore were installed/displayed in their respective Primary Schools. The bravery and martyrdom of martyrs were also highlighted in their schools and also at the community places.
In Kupwara, Police held a Mini-Marathon under the theme "Run for Unity" from DPL Kupwara to Khumriyal and back, covering a total distance of 7 kilometres. Youth from various walks of life across the district enthusiastically participated in the event.
The Mini-Marathon was flagged-off by DySP DAR Kupwara, Shri Syed Mujahid-ul-Haq-JKPS. At culmination of the event, a prize distribution ceremony was organised in which top five participants were awarded with cash prizes and certificates. Mudasir Ahmad secured the 1st position, followed by Tahir Ahmad in 2nd, and Rayees Ahmad in 3rd place.
In a subsequent event, as part of the Civic Action Programme, a Cricket match for Specially-Abled Persons (Deaf-Mute) persons was conducted. The match held between Yellow Deaf 11 and Green Deaf 11, ended in a tie after exciting contest with both teams scoring 105 runs in the allotted 12 overs. In the Super Over, Green Deaf 11 emerged victorious. Majid Ahmad was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, scoring a brilliant fifty. At the end of the match, DySP DAR Kupwara distributed cash prizes of ₹15,000 and ₹10,000 to the winning and losing teams, respectively, along with trophies. Additionally, players from both teams were presented with uniforms as a gesture of encouragement and recognition of their talent.
