SRINAGAR: The Division of Agricultural Statistics, Faculty of Horticulture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), organized a special event to commemorate the 4th World Statistics Day 2025, observed globally under the theme “Driving Change with Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone.”
The event was graced by Director Education, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. Muhammad Altaf Bhat as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Altaf Bhat emphasized the growing importance of statistics in evidence-based decision-making, research, and agricultural innovation.
He highlighted that modern agricultural sciences increasingly rely on robust statistical methodologies to interpret complex data, generate reliable insights, and design sustainable development strategies.
Speaking on the occasion, Head, Division of Agricultural Statistics, Prof. Imran Khan, underscored the global relevance of statistics in advancing scientific knowledge and promoting data-driven agricultural development.
Distinguished speakers including Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, former Director General, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Controller of Examinations, Cluster University Srinagar; and Assistant Director, National Statistical Office (NSO), Government of India, shared insightful perspectives on the evolution and significance of statistics. They reflected on the discipline’s vital role in transforming governance, economics, and research across diverse sectors.
The celebration served as a vibrant platform to acknowledge the indispensable role of statistics in shaping informed policies, supporting scientific research, and fostering sustainable agricultural and societal development.
